How do you fix interior sliding wood doors?
I just brought a sliding wood doors in my house(connects room to room)that has gotten tight and sticky, due to natural shifts in the house.
Is there any way and any one can help me fixing it?
Answer:
it could be the door, you may need to sand it down some or plane it,or the door guide might need lubricating,or you might have to adjust door guide.
thanks! i’m hoping all it needs is some lubrication. if not i might just need to plane or sand it down. i’ll check the door guide too as you suggested.

I have replaced the threshold on my front door, but not there is about 1" space between the bottom of the door and the top of the threshold. I have a door sweep (one that attached to the front and the back of the door) but it still doesn't make the door airtight...it's probably 1/4-1/2" too short. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Does anyone know if someone manufactures metal door thresholds that are greater than 1". If I could find a 1.5" threshold, I think my problem would be solved. Any suggestions???? Please help, the rains are a-comin'!!!
the door may have had the bottom cut short at some time in the past maybe to accomodate a deep pile rug from dragging along it.
If you build up the threshhold too high you have a safety problem of someone tripping ,falling and breaking something on thier body so that is definitely not a good solution.
You can add a piece of wood stripping to the bottom of the door and paint over it.
I am presuming that both the door and frame are timber.
I am presuming that you require your threshold to be level with the internal floor finish.
This must now be compromised as the original threshold hieght has been lowered by 1.5" by your own account.
If I'm picturing this right in my head, then all it requires is an additional packer timber "planted" on top of the threshold with sufficient clearance to allow the door bottom not to bind.
This would also reinstate the original Threshold/floor detail behind.
Or, and if for whatever reason, the threshold cannot be remedied, then take the door off and plant a timber on to the bottom and refit ensuring adequate clearances for trouble free operation.

Or, get a carpenter with the skills, tools etc to undertake the remedial/replacement repairs.
